During and after your prostate cancer treatment, your experience of sex may change. At the St Vincent’s Men’s Health Centre, we can help you maximise the return of your sexual wellbeing after prostate treatment by developing a sexual recovery pathway in consultation with your specialist.

To help you manage any sexual and intimacy issues, our health care team can provide you with solutions and therapies such as:

Throughout this process, our nurse navigators will provide health coaching to support you during your recovery journey.

Support for gay and bisexual men

It’s estimated that between 600 and 1,000 gay or bisexual men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year in Australia. Particular treatments can affect insertive and receptive sex and cancer recovery, so if you are gay or bisexual, it’s important that you have early discussions with your specialist and health care team about the impact your treatment may have on your sexual wellbeing.

How do I find out more about sexual wellbeing after prostate treatment?

Speak to your health care professional with a referral to a St Vincent’s NELUNE Men’s Health Centre Clinical Psychologist, physiotherapist, nurse navigator or doctor.
